The Palm Beach County Commission plans to take a final vote whether to hold a referendum on November 2012, asking voters to allow slots machines at the county�s parimutuel facility, the Palm Beach Kennel Club in West Palm Beach and the old jai-alai fronton in Mangolia Park. Allowing slot machines would also open the door to more of the casino-style gambling long advocated by the kennel club owners, the influential Rooney family.

�This referendum will be a waste of taxpayers money, and their proposal will bring higher crime rates, and violence to a neighborhood already in need,� said Pastor Mark D. Boykin. �I believe that everything that happens in Vegas, must stay in Vegas, and we do not need the kind of crime, prostitution, and others evils associated with gambling to expand in Florida,� continued Pastor Mark D. Boykin.

�For decades we have cultivated a family-friendly vacation postcard image here in Florida and this proposed referendum is a waste of taxpayers money and will destroy our image,� said Pastor Valentin Fontanes, President of the Association of Hispanic Pastors of Palm Beach County.

According to NeighborhoodScout.com and based on FBI data from all 17,000 local law enforcement agencies across the United States, the City of Las Vegas, Nevada has 3 of the top 20 most dangerous neighborhoods with the highest predicted rates of violent crime in America. (#3 Balzar Avenue; #4 N. 28th Street; and #8 D Street; all neighborhoods in the City of Las Vegas).

�There have been a numbers of studies that show that gambling does not bring any economic advantages and more importantly it brings a higher rate of crime,� ended Pastor Mark D. Boykin.

Members of All Nations Church protest Boca Raton ban of holiday decorations

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Members of All Nations Church in Boca Raton took to the streets Tuesday to protest city rules regarding holiday decorations.

The group marched from their church on 4th Avenue to City Hall with cr�ches in hand, upset the small nativity scenes cannot be displayed publicly inside the city building.   Pastor Mark Boykin calls the move a civil rights violation, saying the city is denying the recognition of Christmas.   A few weeks ago, the City of Boca Raton decided not to have any holiday decorations inside City Hall or public libraries in an effort to avoid upsetting the group.

But the Mayor admitted Tuesday that was a mistake. She says there will be protestors regardless what city leaders decide, and she's also heard from many residents who miss the decorations.   In an about-face, the city voted Monday night to permit holiday symbols inside city buildings that the U.S. Supreme Court deems allowable. It includes Christmas trees or Hanukkah menorahs.

The Supreme Court says both those symbols don't necessarily signify religion.   But that isn't enough for members of the Church of All Nations who feel they have the right to display the cr�che and other religious symbols anywhere.   The City of Boca Raton has set aside a place for all religious decorations in Sanborn Square off Federal Highway. That is a place where nativity scenes and Jewish symbols like the Star of David are allowed. GALLERY

Mark Boykin Leads Parishioners, Others In Procession To City Hall

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- A Boca Raton pastor is back at it again in his fight to get a Christmas cr�che, or nativity scene, at City Hall.

Mark Boykin, a pastor at the Church of All Nations, was leading the "March of the Cr�che" to City Hall on Tuesday. The procession is made up of parishioners and city residents.

Boykin began his fight in December 2009 when he lobbied to get a nativity scene placed beside the menorah at the city library. The city had a Christmas tree on display, but Boykin argued that it wasn't a secular symbol.

Last year, he led the charge to include a Christmas cr�che with City Hall's other holiday decorations.

Boca Raton banned all holiday symbols in government buildings this year, but city officials reversed their decision Monday.

ODDS STACKED AGAINST CASINO

As a betting man, I'll set odds of 50-to-1 against the South Florida resort casino bill co-sponsored by state Sen. Ellyn Bodganoff, R-Fort Lauderdale, from being approved in the legislative session that starts in January.

With so many opponents and hurdles, a 2-percent chance sounds right.
Even if the bill gets through a Legislature that's been historically anti-gambling, socially conservative and fiercely protective of Central Florida's theme parks and convention business, there's no telling what Gov. Rick Scott would do when it lands on his desk. He likes jobs and new business, but in a recent meeting with the Sun Sentinel editorial board he made clear his personal aversion to gambling. Still, the proposal to allow three Las Vegas-style resort casinos in Broward and Miami-Dade counties, and the jockeying among major casino companies to our Florida market, has been entertaining.

Among the funniest parts:
--Seeing a former gambling opponent like Bogdanoff turn into a cheerleader for the big casino firms, making nonsensical arguments about this not really being a gambling expansion. Please. It's a gambling expansion. That's not necessarily a bad thing. But let's be honest about it.

--Seeing a gambling executive like Dan Adkins of Mardi Gras Casino in Hallandale Beach turn into a gambling opponent, at least when it comes to this bill. That's because of the potential imbalance of having new competition with a 10 percent tax rate while slot machines at South Florida's parimutuel "racinos" like Mardi Gras remain taxed at 35 percent.

--Seeing the Genting Group of Asia arrogantly get way ahead of itself, buying a prime piece of waterfront land in downtown Miami and unveiling plans for a monstrously large casino before having one shred of legislative or zoning approval. With 5,200 hotel rooms, dozens of restaurants and more casino space than several of the largest Vegas resorts combined, the proposed design also features six cascading glass towers meant to resemble a coral reef over Biscayne Bay.

My favorite reaction to Genting's renderings came from humorist Dave Barry.
"One word � hurricane," Barry said in a radio interview. "There'll be pieces of glass landing in Atlanta from that thing."
Genting certainly threw caution to the winds with its brash vision, but now there's a backlash. Scaling back and dialing down the big promises of jobs, revenue and guaranteed visitors would seem a wiser course.
After all, there's no such thing as a sure thing. Just look at Dania Jai-Alai, where the house has taken a beating in recent years.

Las Vegas-based Boyd Gaming bought the fronton and its slots license for $152.5 million in 2006, making big promises about jobs and redevelopment. Five years later, there are still no slots at the property, and a proposed sale at a big loss (for $80 million) just fell through.
No wonder why casino operator Las Vegas Sands is taking a more low-key approach to South Florida.
"We think it's better to go slow, start small with one [resort] and see if it's successful," Sands lobbyist Nick Iarossi said at a Fort Lauderdale business forum last week.
Odds are, full-blown Vegas-style resorts will be a long time coming.

COUNTY COMMISIONERS TO STUDY SLOTS

Palm Beach County voters could decide whether slot machines should be allowed at the Palm Beach Kennel Club. County commissioners on Tuesday will consider adding a referendum to next year�s presidential election ballot that would ask voters to weigh allowing slots at pari-mutuel facilities.

A final vote of the commission is set for Dec. 20. Upon approval by commissioners and then voters, slot machines would be allowed at the track, the county�s only pari-mutuel. Seven pari-mutuels in Broward and Miami-Dade counties have voter-approved slots. A 2009 amendment to the Florida Constitution allowed the two counties to conduct referendums on whether to allow the machine.

CITY OF PLANTATION VOTES TO KEEP NATIVITY SCENE AND MENORAH DISPLAY!

City Attorney Gets it Wrong!

MIAMI-Today, the Christian Family Coalition, (CFC), Florida's
tireless human rights and social justice organization, announced that
the Plantation city council has REJECTED "warnings" from the ACLU and
their own attorney, to take down their legal holiday displays!

"Rather, the Plantation city council did the right thing and followed
the advice of the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) and the Christian Family
Coalition, (CFC), in a letter urging Mayor Bendekovic and the entire
Plantation city council to keep their legal holiday display intact,
this is truly a victory for freedom", stated Anthony Verdugo, Founder
and Executive Director, Christian Family Coalition, (CFC).

Unfortunately, Plantation City Attorney Don Lunny, continuously
ignored the wise counsel offered to him by both the Alliance Defense
Fund (ADF) and the Christian Family Coalition (CFC) and, as a result,
has publicly and needlessly embarrassed himself when his client, the
city of Plantation, ignored his own "legal" advice to "put aside"
these legal holiday displays. MORE

ACLU WARNS ABOUT CHRISTMAS DISPLAY

PLANTATION� Joseph, Mary and the Baby Jesus have no business posing in a public park � even if they're accompanied by a Hanukkah menorah.

"Inappropriate" is the word the Broward chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union uses to describe the holiday display planned for Liberty Tree Park.

It's like Christmas in July, with all the traditional trimmings: squabbles over religious displays in super-sensitive South Florida.

The ACLU, in a letter to city officials, warned that displaying a Nativity scene and menorah violates the separation of church and state. The problem, the rights group said, is that the city is advocating for two religions while ignoring all the others.

"We feel it's a violation of the First Amendment and an endorsement of religion," said the ACLU's Barry Butin. "If they were really neutral and didn't favor one over the other, they'd have a more inclusive display: Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist."

Butin didn't mention the Wiccan religion, whose symbol presumably would be a broomstick.

The ACLU has already warned Plantation � twice � against setting up religious displays. It was acting on a complaint from an unidentified board member who doesn't live in Plantation but photographed the creche and menorah one Christmastime. MORE

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Many believe legalizing gay marriage in New York brings new life to the national gay rights movement and it�s caused one Boca Raton pastor to host services in hopes to stop that movement from coming to Florida.

Church of All Nations Pastor Mark D. Boykin held two services titled �Gay Marriage: The New Morality?� Sunday morning looking to unite those to stay vigilant against legislators who want to legalize homosexual marriage in Florida.

"For two men to live together and have carnal relations or two women to be together and have carnal relations, we believe that is a sin," Boykin said.

Tea Party Fort Lauderdale, Other Groups Protesting to Shut Down Margate Sunni Mosque

If you happen to be in Margate tomorrow night, be on the lookout for a few of South Florida's more religulous outside the Masjid Jamaat Al-Mumineen mosque.

The protest comes in response to the arrest of 24-year-old Izhar Khan -- the mosque's imam -- who pleaded not guilty late last week to charges of supporting the Pakistani Taliban.

His father, 76-year-old Hafiz Muhammad Sher Ali Khan, and his brother, 37-year-old Irfan Khan, have also been indicted in the case.

Apparently not hip to the innocent-until-proven-guilty justice system in the U.S., Tea Party Fort Lauderdale, Americans Against Hate, Citizens of Margate, Pastor Mark Boykin of Church of All Nations in Boca Raton, and others are planning to hold a press conference tomorrow to make an announcement of the night's protest. HOUSE PASSES HOST OF NEW ABORTION ISSUES

TALLAHASSEE� After four hours of emotionally fraught debate, the Florida House on Wednesday overwhelmingly approved a range of new restrictions on abortions that would restrict health-insurance coverage of the procedure, ban most abortions after a fetus is "viable" and require women seeking an abortion to first review an ultrasound in hopes that they would choose to reverse their decision after seeing the images.

PROTEST CALLS FOR PROFS DISMISSAL

Horns honked and passersby gave a thumbs-up as the small crowd, carrying placards and waving American flags, rallied last week outside the main entrance to Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton to protest against a university professor.

The rally was organized by Joe Kaufman, chairman of Americans Against Hate, along with Rev. Mark D. Boykin, pastor of Church of All Nations and Anthony Verdugo of the Christian Family Coalition. The group organized the April 14 demonstration and press conference to call on the university to terminate the employment of FAU Professor Bassem Al-halabi for what organizers said was "his involvement with individuals and organizations that support terrorist acts against the United States and Israel."

MUSLIM PROFESSOR SUBJECT OF PROTESTS AT FAU

For the past decade, conservative activist Joe Kaufman has suggested a Syrian-born professor at Florida Atlantic University may have terrorist connections. Bassem Al-halabi, an associate professor of engineering, has no criminal convictions, and he has supporters of all faiths at FAU who say his views are closer to pacifism than terrorism.

But Kaufman, keeping his effort alive, organized a protest in front of FAU on Thursday, urging the university to fire him. Al-halabi is a danger � and should not be around or be able to hold influence over any of our nation's youth, especially as a professor at publicly funded institution," Kaufman said. FAU PROFESSOR UNDER FIRE

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Some conservative groups are calling for the Florida Atlantic University to fire a professor. Dr. Bassem Al-halabi teaches engineering and science at FAU. Protesters accuse him of providing material support to those who support al-Qaeda.

Pastor Mark D. Boykin of the Church of All Nations is leading the protest against the professor. He said he wants engage in a dialogue and "describe to the people the kind of nefarious activities that Mr. Bassem Al-halabi has been involved in."

The university says Al-halabi has never been found guilty of, nor pleaded guilty to, any criminal activity.The pastor promised to show printouts of his complaints.

BOCA RATON � About 50 protestors stood at the entrance to Florida Atlantic University on Thursday and called for the firing of a Syrian engineering professor they claim has terrorist ties.

Meanwhile, across campus, about 50 students gathered to support professor Bassem alHalabi. AlHalabi has worked at FAU since 1996. The university issued a statement Wednesday supporting him.

Joe Kaufman of Americans Against Hate, who describes himself as an investigative journalist, targeted alHalabi more than a decade ago. According to Kaufman, alHalabi has several connections to terrorist groups, including the Islamic Center of Boca Raton, of which he was a co-founder. Kaufman says the center was bankrolled by Saudi Arabians.

Christian Groups Target FAU Prof for Dismissal
A coalition of pro-Israel activists is calling for the ouster of a Florida Atlantic University professor with ties to a controversial Islamic center near campus.

Bassem Alhalabi is "a very dangerous professor who has ties to terrorists," said Joe Kaufman, head of Americans Against Hate. �There is plenty of documented evidence that shows that Professor Bassem Alhalabi does not merit employment at FAU."

Kaufman's group, along with the Church of All Nations and the Christian Family Coalition, has scheduled a Thursday protest at FAU's Boca Raton campus.Alhalabi, who did not respond to Sunshine State News' request for comment, has taught at FAU's department of electrical engineering and computer science since 1996. During his tenure, Alhalabi has had several run-ins with the law.

Mr. Bassem Alhalabi was research assistant to Sami Al-Arian and wrote a number of publications with him. According to U.S. Department of Justice documents, Al-Arian, was sentenced to 57 months in prison for assisting a terrorist group. In his guilty plea, Al-Arian admitted that �he and a several of his co-conspirators were associated with the Palestian Islamic Jihad, knowing that the PIJ had been designated as a Specially Designated Terrorist and that it engaged in horrific and deadly acts of violence.�

Mr. Bassem Alhalabi is also associated with the Islamic Center of Boca Raton (ICBR). It�s first imam, Ibrahim Dremali, was a representative of the Southeastern Division of the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA-SE), an organization that was asking its followers to give material support to groups associated with al-Qaeda. Mr. Dremali was arrested in October 2010 on immigration related charges. The imam who replaced Dremali at ICBR was also arrested in May 2003. ICBR�s spokesman was arrested in July 2005, and one of ICBR�s founding directors was also the creator of the official website of al-Jamiya al-Islamia, the Gaza parent organization of Hamas. ICBR member Rafiq Sabir was also convicted of supporting al-Qaeda.

�We have an individual teaching at FAU, who supports organizations that want to destroy both the United States and Israel,� said Pastor Mark D. Boykin. �He should not be allowed in this country, let alone teach at such a fine institution, and the administration at FAU must begin the necessary proceedings to terminate his employment immediately,� added Pastor Boykin.

Professor Bassem Alhalabi was found guilty of shipping military equipment to Syria by the U.S. Department of Commerce in June 2003 and was arrested on March 22, 2010 for two separate charges of assault and battery.

�We are calling on the FAU administration to terminate the employment of a very dangerous professor who has ties to terrorists,� said Mr. Joe Kaufman, chairman of Americans Against Hate. �There is plenty of documented evidence that shows that Professor Bassem Alhalabi does not merit employment at FAU,� continued Mr. Kaufman.

"It is unconscionable, after all that we know about Mr. Bassem Alhalabi, that the administration at FAU is still allowing him to teach; he represents a national security threat; he must be terminated immediately and be deported from the United States," stated Anthony Verdugo, Founder and Executive Director, Christian Family Coalition.

PASTOR ATTENDS MENS BREAKFAST

Speranza Hosts Men�s Prayer Breakfast- Gideon�s Men�s Ministry held their monthly Saturday morning prayer breakfast at Speranzas Restaurant located at Palmetto Park Road and US 1 in Boca Raton. A crowd of close to 50 men attended the 8AM start gathering for a time of prayer, worship and fellowship.

Men�s Ministry Director Pastor Mario Bertoni led an anointed time of worship while Chet Kope brought a truly amazing message that ministered to everyone in attendance. In these last days it is critical for the men of the church to come together in strength and love and be the leaders God has called us to be.

If you have not attended one of these prayer breakfasts you are missing out on a blessing you cannot measure. The men also meet every Tuesday evening on the grounds of Church of All Nations. Team Bahamas Enjoys Gods Favor
March 17th-20th, 2011

Church of All Nations was well represented as Team Bahamas ministered to the island nation of the Bahamas. Fire Institute Associate Directors Pastors Fred Louis and Harold Gutierrez, Pastor Roxanne Carter, Rev.Eula Penerman, Reverend Ilda Jolimeau, Minister Ruthlyn Lewis, Casey Palacious, Soledad Hidalgo, Joel Merin and Evangelina Fernandez combined their love for God with their desire to share Jesus with our neighbors east of the Florida shoreline.

The mission�s trip presented a dual blessing, combining the awesome beauty of the Bahamas Islands with times of intense ministry where the spirit of God moved freely and in powerful ways.

While in the Bahamas the team stayed in the city of Freeport. Everywhere Team Bahamas visited there were divine appointments. From bringing a family of seven from Ecuador with them to church, to praying for a parliamentary candidate who �just happened" to be in the area. God continually opened doors of opportunity to share Jesus with those in need.

Fire Institute Associate Director Pastor Fred Louis commented, �The services during the trip were amazing. The anointing of the Holy Spirit moved in every single service and only time will reveal all that God did here through our efforts. Every team member was touched to know that God has a plan for their lives and that they have a ministry. Truly the Fire Institute is becoming a missionary school to the nations! PRAISE THE LORD!!!�

Service Highlights:
Nightly Testimonies -Fire Institute Associate Directors Pastors Fred Louis and Pastor Harold Gutierrez, Casey Palacious, and other team members.
Thursday Night: Casey Palacious preached. While at the altar, Casey gave a word of knowledge for a woman suffering from depression who to the surprise of all was an immigration officer from the Bahamas. Four people were saved during the service including Casey�s uncle.

Friday Night: Pastor Harold Guitierez preached with conviction bringing words of knowledge for people holding on to past hurts. Numerous people responded by coming forward. Another word of knowledge was given for concerned women regarding their husbands� eternal security. Several women came forward for prayer with one receiving the baptism in the Holy Spirit. A special prophetic word was given to Bishop Kemp�s grandson regarding his call to missions. The grandson came forward and was slain in the spirit.

As a final prophetic word was spoken regarding the new building under construction, �once the new building is completed leaders around the nation would gather there for prayer. Bishop Kemp confirmed that two other people gave this same word regarding the church.

Sunday Morning: Pastor Fred Louis had the privilege to bring God�s word on the closing day of the outreach. Words of knowledge flowed for heart problems with several women coming forward. Also prophetic words of knowledge were uttered for people suffering with leg problems and five women came forward. One of the women received healing. Words of knowledge were also was given for people dealing with demonic activity.
